01/10/18 Directed by: Joachim Trier Caries many of the tropes of a modern indie film but, for the most part, it uses them pretty well. The almost digital looking camerawork actually looks really nice and feels right for the film. The score is probably the worst part of the film for being "generic modern". Just those bland, weepy strings you hear in everything and even one synth track so you know its extra modern. The premise is goofy but handled well enough for the most part and there's just enough solid, though perhaps a bit too on-the-nose, imagery to help float the story along. Solid overall.

01/09/18 Directed by: Trey Edward Shults Its great when nothing is happening but usually kind of clunky when things are happening. Its shot real well, especially the dolly shots, and the lighting is great but is let down by having very little in the way of compelling imagery.
